How much do you know of history? To know the past, is to know who we were, the future, and develop a better understanding of the world in which we live.
Sometimes, I wonder what would have been left of Nigeria's history if Chinua Achebe hadn't written all that we have now of his works to read. Of course, that i not to say that there are not other writers of history who also did a great job but Chinua Achebe's unapologetic unconventional style of fearlessly narrating and expressing his opinions compels ones attention on a deeper level to the matter of discuss.
The book, There Was A Country is a personal account of one of the most catastrophic three-year events in Nigeria - The Nigerian Civil War. Though done reading this book, I'm still taking my time to read through it again so this isn't a proper view of the book.
