Why Book Review?
Growing up, I wrote more than I read. The pen just had its way of crawling itself into my fingers and birthing thousand words. I remember my mum always saying o tun tin ri nnkan ko - she has found something to write again. I read of course but the number of jotters I found last year during one of those days COVID lockdown pushes you into some activities you wouldn’t ordinarily think of greatly attested to it.
My love for books however started sometimes in 2019 when I decided to register for a Book Hackathon competition organised by MAYEIN on the 23rd of April, which happened to be my birthday. Imagine dressing up on your birthday and informing your family that you are going to read books throughout that day.😄 To be honest, I registered because I already pictured myself coming home with all the books I will be reading that day and the #10,000 voucher for books if I came first in the competition. I didn’t emerge as the winner and of course they didn’t allow us take the books home.😂 I however got presented two books by the then Commissioner of Sports.😫😂
After the competition, I found myself going to different bookstores in search of a particular book that really caught my interest that day and wanting to finish reading it but I didn't find it until last year when fate made us crosspath at a bookstore in Lagos, Epokbooks. While the competition started out as wanting to come home with books, the experience that day unlocked so many things about books to me. Every search for that book led me going home with another book and more and more and that, is exactly what I want to do with you through KuwaysirReadiscovery. I want you to be able to decide your next favourite read through my reviews and have you experience the growth that comes with reading books which is why 71 subscribers for a start means a lot to me.🥳
